Women\u2019s health has historically been one of the core strengths of the center, thanks to the presence of highly qualified and specialized medical expertise. The activities of the Centro Seno Ticino ensure the treatment of approximately one-third of all breast cancer cases recorded annually in Ticino. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breast cancer, also known as mammary carcinoma, is the most common cancer among women (affecting 1 in 8), with approximately 6,300 new cases per year. Cancerous diseases are generally caused by alterations in the genetic material of cells. Several factors can contribute to these mutations and play a role in the development of breast cancer, including: family history (e.g., breast cancer in the mother, sister, or daughter), hereditary predisposition (genetic mutations, such as BRCA gene mutations), hormonal influences, external influences (viruses, pollutants, second hand smoke, UV radiation), overweight, lack of physical activity \/ sedentary lifestyle, alcohol consumption, and smoking.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
